BAYPORT Company was founded by Don Rafael Fernandez Vegain Cádiz under the brand of Puerto y Bahia in 1979.

BAYPORT started its activity as a general supplier of all vessels in the port of Cadiz. However it takes it some time to expand its activity of supplies of vessels, operating in other ports as: Seville, Huelva, Algeciras, El Puerto de Santa Maria or the USA Rota Navy Base.

The fast growth of the business makes the company to open up its headquarters in 2005, specifically in Puerto Real. This serves as a major hub for the company with 35 years of experience in the sector.

At the same time, it is incorporated to the company the successor of its founder; his son Rafael Fernández Bernal, thus giving continuity to the family spirit character that defines BAYPORT. It is important to stand out the passion of this businessman towards this sector. Since his childhood he preferred to learn and internalize on the experience of his father and mentor.

His innovative spirit directs the company towards the international market; opening trades deals in different countries and establishing a BAYPORT presence in international fairs. This desire to expand internationally resulted in the introduction of a new operating method and a wider customer portfolio. Therefore, the addition of Rafael Fernández, now CEO of the company, marks a turning point.

Experience, innovation, efficiency, quickness and safety become the true values of the company, resulting in the new expansion model, leading new delegations throughout the national territory; in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in 2012, and so on until the present, in Bilbao, Ferrol, Valencia, Barcelona and Vigo. Emphasizing the logistical points that BAYPORT has in Huelva and Algeciras since its inception.

From Puerto y Bahia to BAYPORT, the company has experienced all sorts of progress and reforms that pass through the working model (in its early years the whole operation was carried out locally by contacting directly vessels captains on arrival). In the present, due to new technological advances, the new supply chain systems, and the development of the media, ship-owners contact with BAYPORT directly before the ships reach port.
